"Hotter than Hell" Multispecies Contest 2 Years, 11 Months ago
We are celebrating the relaunch of TXFishes by throwing a multispecies contest running the duration of the summer.

All the old rules will apply (there will be a link to them soon) and As usual a contest image will be available 24 hours before the contest begins.

It is going to be hot out there, the competition should be hot as well.

The contest code may be up by then, if not, we'll just keep track here in the forums.

Enjoy!

The rules are as follows:

ƒ The contest runs from 2009-06-21 through 2009-09-22 (summer).

ƒ The winners of this contest will be decided by total species logged.

ƒ You may enter the contest at any point during the contest period.

ƒ All fish must be caught in Texas waters.

ƒ Only fish caught in freshwater (freshwater, and state stocked - landlocked satlwater fish) will be counted.

ƒ All fish must be landed by legal angling methods (no spearing, noodling, shooting, throwline, trotline, jugline, etc).

ƒ Fish must be hooked in the mouth, or mouth area (1 inch is a general guideline).

ƒ All local laws must be followed.

ƒ You must catch fish yourself although someone else is allowed to net your fish.

ƒ If your fish cannot be identified by the photograph it will not be counted.

ƒ If the contest image is not clearly visible, it will not be counted.

ƒ The officers of txfishes.com will make all *final* decisions on fish qualification.

ƒ All fish must me at least 4" in length (this limits some confusion)

ƒ A tie will be decided by getting closest to the state record (in %) for any species turned in (TX must already have a state record on the books).

ƒ Photographs will be uploaded to txfishes.com - or emailed to a special email address.

ƒ All uploaded photos become the property of txfishes.com - they may be used on the website.

ƒ We strongly encourage the release of all trophy fish.

ƒ Fish must be photographed when caught. No obviously dead or frozen fish will be counted.

ƒ You are responsible for your own actions during this contest. We are not responsible for your actions, injuries, or any lack of common sense you may have.

ƒ Fish caught during other tournaments can be counted (provided the txfishes.com rules are all followed).

Because we're still getting our feet back under us, we're goping to run this contest from the forum.

Post your catches here, and keep a running total for yourself in your posts.

I'll sticky a "leaderboard" post and keep it updated with your results.

We *will* get the old code going again, and all will be good.

For now, you may want this:

Pass the word around any way you can as well.

I'm working on some interesting prizes, and if you can help there, please do so.

A quick note about my 1st three catches, I was on the Texas side bank for all 3 of these therefore they are officially "Texas fish", I did wade the next day & those fish (stripers mostly) I am not counting for this contest..just thought I'd clear the air before the question arose.

I think that has been brought up enough times that no one would have questioned you. I do wish the rule was "Texas waters including boundary waters". Going with the K.I.S.S. principle why complicate this? I do think it is rather stupid that one should have to worry about where a river channel is in say Texoma or Toledo Bend, if your standing in the water or on the bank below Denison when you reel a fish in, etc. It is the same fish and same body of water.

You know what John.....

you're right.

The KISS theory was how we got there though, what with the "if your TX license is good, you are" thought process.

I'd say boundary waters are good. I'll put it before the committee, and I suspect things will fall toward your line of thinking.

Pondbass,

looking good, but two of those are going to have to be eliminated.

Luckily they're both easy catches to replace.
